Is it just me or is The Fantastic Mr. Fox and Star Fox's Fox McCloud the same person? Identical cousins, at least.

Mr. Fox is from new Wes Anderson movie based on the book by Roald Dahl. Fox McCloud is from the Star Fox game series that (along with Golden Eye) made the N64 worth buying. If you look there's a very similar foxiness to these foxes. However, perhaps there's a bit of a limitation as to how anthropomorphic foxes can be depicted. But the Fantastic Mr. Fox in the film does look quite different from the original Donald Chaffin illustrations or later Quentin Blake illustrations. Taking on a decidedly more McCloudian air.
Both Mr. Fox and Fox McCloud also both run with a motley crew of assorted animals.

I noticed this today, googled it, and was brought to your website. My year old plays my husbands 64 and would play star fox 24/7 if we let him. I see the Mr Fox preview and thought it was about Fox McCloud.

Okay, so about those 2 foxes, Fox McCloud and Mr. Fox, they really do look very alike because of their fur color and eye color. The other thing is that on T.V., there is this news network named "FOX" which is really amazing and the logo, 20TH CENTRY "FOX". This name is always going to remind me of the animated foxes, Fox McCloud and Mr. Fox. About the 2 female foxes, Krystal and Mrs. Fox, they are alike except Mrs. Fox does not have blue fur.
TRUE STORY!

I just stumbled across this. Greetings from 2011! The irony here is that some people over at college humor thought exactly what the OP did, and so they made a stop-motion trailer called: "The Fantastic Mr. Star Fox" Just Google it, its pretty funny, and stays true to both Star Fox and the Fantastic Mr. Fox film. Looks like you're right OP, they do look almost identical.

I saw a red fox once! At night, me and my mom were on our way to the fabric store to get my pink fabric for my project and on the way there, we saw a red fox run across the road and into the forest! Pretty cool, right? I told my mom that the red fox reminds me of the Star Fox character, Fox. I also read about foxes in the Greendale Public library and when I looked at those foxes, they are so cute and friendly! (giggles)

And on a pagan theme, thought you might like my machinima film,
The Lammas Wickerman which features a dancing pagan fox
