My Mind Remained Unaltered

In Amsterdam, I brought my little notebook with me. I brought my little pen. Fresh white page. Fresh black ink. And nothing. I was prepared for inspiration and I really wasn’t terribly inspired. I tried some mind altering substances and there was nothing really new. I thought my creative juices would be flowing, but all I really did was watch Duck Tales in Dutch.

A beautiful city, but I didn’t get much writing done.

But we had fun! Inspiration for writing at another time… events are always funnier when you look back on them.

Of course, we had fun. There’s no denying that. But I’ve always wanted to have a vision. Ken Kesey has talked about being a drug tester at some company, so they pumped him full of all kinds of shit, and he had this vision of this giant Indian standing over him. That’s how One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest started. I want more Indians is all I’m saying.
